THE K818 CHAIR IS MADE OF TWO MAIN PLASTIC PARTS: SEAT/FRONT LEGS AND A BACK. THE PARTS ARE MADE OF GLASS FIBER REINFORCED NYLON. THE TWO PARTS ARE HELD TOGETHER BY THE TWO STEEL TUBES ALSO USED AS REAR LEGS.
MOLGARD APS WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT INCLUDING: COST ANALYSIS, CALCULATION OF DIMENSIONS, MATERIAL SELECTION, MANUFACTURING OF PROTOTYPES, 3D SCANNING AND CAD-MODEL PRODUCTION, AS WELL AS SUB-SUPPLIER SELECTION.
THE PROTOTYPE WAS 3D LASER SCANNED AND A 3D CAD MODEL WAS MADE . THE 3D CAD MODEL WAS USED FOR: RAPID PROTOTYPING OF CRITICAL PARTS AND DETAILS, FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS TO DETERMING THE FINAL STRENGTH TEATURES AND FINAL MANUFACTURING OF THE PRODUCTION MOULDING TOOL.
